MSI's Raider GE76 is one of the most powerful gaming laptops around
Many hardware manufacturers have played a part in the rise of PC gaming over the decades, but right from the start MSI have been leading the charge. The Taiwanese PC hardware giant has been around for 35 years.,These guys are committed to empowering gamers and making the medium matter, so when they release a high-end gaming laptop with the latest in mobile graphics tech, it's going to get our attention.
The laptop in question is the Raider GE76. Its all-powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti leads the myriad reasons why this is the perfect portable weapon in every hardcore gamer's arsenal.
Let's start off with that star feature. The Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti is hands-down the most powerful laptop GPU ever made, capable of up to 4K 120fps performance in many of the latest games. With 7424 CUDA Cores, up to 1590 MHz base clocks, and 16GB GDDR6 memory, there's no better way to play on a laptop.
But a GPU is only as good as the screen you use it on. Knowing that all the firepower would go wasted if players were limited to 1080p resolutions and low refresh rates, MSI has given the GE76 an immersive 17.3" IPS display with up to 360Hz refresh rate and up to UHD (or 4K) resolution.
At this point Nvidia's DLSS and ray-tracing tech needs no introduction, but we'll just say that these technologies help supported games hit even higher frame-rates and make those reflections look unthinkably lifelike. The performance-boosting effects of DLSS, which uses deep learning to render frames at lower resolutions then upscale them, are one of the miracles of modern gaming.
Intel's 12th Gen. Core i9 processor is a perfect complement to the 3080Ti, with an incredible 14 cores and 45% performance boost on its previous-gen equivalent (the Intel i7-11800H). The Hybrid architecture contained therein combines two core microarchitectures, focusing your CPU resources when you're gaming, and distributing them to maximise your multitasking performance.
Amazingly, all this fits into a slender chassis, toned in obelisk blacks and icy asteroid greys, with a unique oblique-angled design and MSI's customisable Mystic lighting adorning its keys and edges.
While we wouldn't normally bore you with the details of the manufacturer's proprietary software, a couple of MSI Center's features really stand out. When you start playing a game, Smart Auto automatically switches into Game Mode, funnelling the CPU's resources into giving you that extra edge in performance. Then there's the Ambient Silent AI, which can detect the decibel level of the sound around you and adjust fan speed accordingly.
There are a few variants of the GE76 to choose from, which you can check out here, so if you think the above sounds awesome (which it is) but a little bit overkill (which it may be), then you can find the Raider that's right for you. Whichever one you go for, it'll be your trusted gaming sidekick for years to come.
You can grab the GE76 Raider at MSI's website now. Do it soon, and you'll get a stylish backpack and $50 Steam code; that just about covers your purchase of Elden Ring, and what better way to break in your new rig than by using it to explore the biggest RPG of the year?
