Published in 2016, FryxGames' Terraforming Mars is a multi award-winning board game about colonising Mars. Due later this year, LuckyHammers and Asmodee Digital will bring the esteemed tabletop to PC and mobile—and it looks gorgeous.
Whether you're a seasoned city-builder, a fledgling fabricator, or something in between, Terraforming Mars suits all playstyles. In turn-based bouts, players are tasked with raising the planet's temperature as they cultivate oxygen, water and plant and animal life. In practice, this means drawing project cards, growing production, placing green zones and city spaces, racing for milestones and awards, and leading humanity into its next era.
Players can compete across several game modes, too. Similar to the board game, single players can play solo—or against AI-controlled opponents. Pass-and-play local multiplayer is another option, while online multiplayer allows for intense turn-based strategic gameplay. No matter how you play, Terraforming Mars is the only board game available on PC and mobile that takes players to the Red Planet.
At the head of a specialised corporation, you'll build facilities, research innovative technologies and manage resource production. And as if surviving these new harsh conditions wasn't challenging enough, rival companies are also out to thwart your progress. Don't trust anybody.
Here's a quick look at LuckyHammers and Asmodee Digital's digital adaptation in motion:
Due later this year, Terraforming Mars' arrival on PC coincides with NASA's Mars InSight Mission. During the tabletop-to-PC conversion process, Asmodee Digital mirrors real-world trends as it strives to create new experiences and grant players new ways to play their favourite games.
